Occasional roles at the Woodstock atelier.

Joining our team

Creation Africa is a close-knit atelier based in Woodstock, Cape Town, with additional bays in Rosebank, Menlyn, Gateway Umhlanga, Canal Walk, Tyger Valley, Brooklyn Design Square, and V&A Waterfront. We hire rarely and only when a real gap opens in our studio or showroom crew. Typical roles that occasionally come up include bench makers with hands steady for shaping hardwood slats and fitting dovetails, finishers who have patience for oils and waxes, install crew who can travel light on the bakkie to Stellenbosch or the winelands, and showroom hosts who know how to welcome guests from everywhere, from Pretoria to the Karoo.

What makes a strong application

When we do post a role, we look for care, curiosity, and a sense of purpose. If you send us an email with 'Careers' in the subject line, please include a few clear photos of your own work, show us real pieces you have made, finished, or installed. Let us know where you are based, since most posts are on-site in Woodstock, though sometimes we need hosts in Pretoria or Durban. We appreciate a short story about your experience with tools, timber, fabric, ceramics, installation, or just helping people feel at home in a space. Write to atelier@creationafrica.co.za and speak simply, in your own words. We reply to every application, but it might take a week or two in busy months.

Life at the atelier

Work at Creation Africa is hands-on, honest, and often outdoors. In the Woodstock workshop, every day you’ll feel the sawdust, oil, and South Easter in your hair, and have your lunch on the stoep or around the baobab table. We work with solid oak, ash, powder-coated steel, hand-thrown clay, and linen from the Eastern Cape. Showroom days are about early starts, moving plinths, polishing the Karoo Screen, and sharing stories of the veld and the city. The crew is mixed, some of us come from Joburg, others from Durban’s humidity, and we all swap tips over coffee and the odd Friday braai. There’s space to learn, to fix your own mistakes, and to see your work travel from the bench to a wine estate or a city foyer.
