Studio settings that suit the Bench

The Studio Bench is a core piece for School maker spaces and Maker residency set-ups. It works equally well along a tool wall, in a collaborative project bay or as a solo surface in a quiet corner. In maker weeks, benches line up for learners working on group builds. Residency studios use them as flexible work-horse forms, shifting between seating and task table as the project demands. Their adaptability makes them a favourite in settings that switch between learning, prototyping and display.

Pairing with other range forms

The Studio Bench complements several other pieces in our range. The Veld Tray fits naturally along its top, keeping drawing tools or electronics tidy. The Ceramic Studio Jig pairs well for sculpture studios, using the bench as a stable base. The Foyer Plinth stands nearby when you want to display models or finished work at the end of a session. These forms share a similar approach: robust materials, a readiness for hands-on use and finishes that don’t mind a bit of chalk dust or paint.

Finishes and custom details

Most customers stick with our standard oiled hardwood and neutral steel, but if your space has a particular palette, we’ve matched powder coats in clay, olive and off-white before. Brass rails can be left to patina or polished bright, depending on how much shine you like. If you’re pairing with the Karoo Screen or Harbour Shelf, let us know your wood preferences, we aim for a family look when benches are grouped in social spaces or visible from the stoep.
