Birch ply and Brass cut to fit
Each Textile Panel Frame begins with birch ply, selected for its stability and consistent pale grain. We handle the full cut in our Woodstock workshop on the laser bed, which ensures crisp edges and precise fit for the open rail. The brass rod is cut and polished by hand, then fitted into rebated slots so it sits flush but can be removed for textile changes. We keep the edition tag subtle, stamping it at the back edge before the final assembly.

Assembly, finishing and variation
Frames are dry-fitted, then sanded to a fine grit before we apply a clear, low-sheen lacquer by hand. This finish keeps the ply’s natural look while sealing against moisture and fingerprints. Brass rods are left bare, as many clients prefer the patina that develops over time. Each frame is quality-checked for square corners and smooth action of the rail. Because every commission is made to order, slight variations in ply grain and rod hue are to be expected, giving each frame its own character.
We’re used to working to unusual sizes, from narrow bands for woven samples up to statement pieces for foyer walls. If the piece will travel or needs to be packed flat, let us know early so we can advise on split-rail solutions or reinforced corners.
What can be customised
Most changes are in size, but we also adapt the slot width for heavier textiles or multiple layers. For collaborative projects with local weavers, we sometimes use a darker finish or a smoked birch at their request. The edition tag can include a code for larger batches, making it easy to track pieces as they move between venues.
