Brass and navy finishes
Why muted brass sits on ink-oiled timber across the range.
Brass and navy: a tactile dialogue in finish
Creation Africa’s forms now speak in brass and navy, with a muted, weathered brass always settling onto deep ink-oiled timber. This tactile pairing runs across pieces from the Veld Tray and Maker Mark Brass to the Map Cabinet South. The brass is gently brushed, never polished to a mirror, then left with a warm patina. Our navy is not blue paint but a deep oil stain worked by hand into local timbers, think kiaat, ash, or blackwood, until the grain absorbs just enough colour to feel like twilight. Expect smooth brass lips capping the handles of a Harbour Shelf, or a Baobab Lamp’s stem glinting quietly above a navy base, each finish intended to withstand Highveld dust, Cape air, or Durban humidity alike.
For designers, lodges, galleries and homes
This finish choice gives designers and clients a durable, understated palette that works from bush lodge to urban foyer. Muted brass is never bossy: it picks up the golden hour sun in a Karoo Screen, or softens under gallery lighting. Navy-oiled timber grounds a foyer plinth or a journal box on your stoep, blending with heritage floors and concrete alike. Our pieces arrive ready for hard-wearing hospitality, schools, or homes with curious children and wet Labradors. The brass and navy age well, developing character from daily use, braai smoke, and the odd red wine spill.
