In good company: Studio settings
The Baobab Lamp is at its best in a foyer commission, where its layered light greets visitors without glare. It’s equally suited to the quiet corners of a residential atelier, where soft lighting encourages conversation or reading. In cowork spaces, it brings a crafted touch to seating nooks, and its compact footprint means it won’t compete with larger feature pieces.
Interior projects referenced in our Canopy light without glare and Foyer lamp briefs essays have shown that diffusing direct light is essential for comfortable, linger-friendly spaces. This lamp was designed with those learnings in mind.

Objects that work alongside
Pair the Baobab Lamp with our Foyer Plinth for an entryway that feels both sculptural and grounded. The Harbour Shelf makes an ideal backdrop for its warm cast, holding art or artefacts in a similar material palette. In bedrooms or reading spaces, the Veld Tray works well as a companion on bedside tables, echoing the lamp’s natural forms.
Each combination balances function and tactility, allowing the lamp’s shade pattern to add subtle interest rather than demand attention.

Finishes that suit your space
Clients often choose a natural oil finish for the base, which brings out the hardwood’s grain and pairs well with both pale and dark birch shades. For coastal interiors, a matte wax is recommended to resist humidity. In high-traffic settings, a deeper stain gives the base a more robust appearance and hides marks from daily use.
The birch shade comes standard in a pale finish, but we can tint it slightly for a warmer look when requested. These options let the lamp settle quietly into both contemporary and classic settings.
