First on the table at lodge and home
Veld Tray is what we reach for when a lodge or guesthouse needs practical beauty without fuss. Chefs and hosts pick it for breakfast sides, fruit, or setting up a tea station that looks considered but not overstyled. At home in a braai room, it corrals salts or relishes for easy passing on the stoep. Cafes and coworks use it for cutlery stacks or pastries, where a lighter, stackable tray is far easier to manage between sittings.
Designers often start with the Veld Tray when laying out a hospitality table that needs structure but not weight. Its crisp lines and workable size fit anywhere from a Karoo farmstead to a Camps Bay breakfast nook.

What arrives: dimensions and finish
Each tray measures 320 by 220 mm with a hand-sanded body in local hardwood, precision cut on our CNC. Muted brass inlay lines run true, no sharp edges or bright glare. The finish is oil matte: easy to wipe and gentle on glassware. The stackable edge means you can order multiples that nest securely, ideal for service or when space is tight.
Orders are made to brief with a 2 to 3 week lead time from confirmation. Care is as simple as a dry wipe down after use. No harsh cleaners, no soaking, just a routine hand dry.
- 320 x 220 mm working area

- Stackable, not bulky
Specifying for our climate
South Africa’s weather makes itself known in timber objects. Along the coast, humidity asks for hardwoods that will not warp. We oil the trays well, but recommend storing them out of direct sun, especially near the Cape southeaster. At altitude, say, Joburg or the Highveld, the dry air calls for a little extra oiling if you use the tray daily. In the Lowveld and Natal, high humidity is less of a problem with this close-grain timber, but make sure trays air dry fully between uses.
If your kitchen or dining room sees high traffic, we can recommend a slightly deeper oil finish. Let us know your region and volume of use when you brief us: that way, we get the spec right for your service pattern and microclimate.
