Where Karoo Screen belongs

The Karoo Screen finds its place in studio environments, open-plan offices, lobbies, and creative foyers where gentle division is needed but full separation is not. Clients who order this piece include architects setting up coworking spaces, gallery managers, café owners, and wine farm hosts looking to soften acoustics and sightlines without blocking out sunlight or view. Its motif references the sparse beauty of the Karoo, making it a talking point wherever it stands. In homes, you might spot it in a braai room or as a subtle divider on a stoep open to the garden.

What arrives on site

The Karoo Screen measures 1600 mm high and comes as a single plywood panel backed with acoustic felt. Its signature face features a perforated pattern inspired by Karoo flora, offering partial privacy with light passage. Freestanding feet with brass tips ensure stability and add a touch of shine near floor level. Each screen requires gentle care: a soft vacuum for dust and the occasional wipe-down for the brass. Our standard lead time is four weeks from order confirmation to atelier dispatch. Each screen is checked for stability, pattern sharpness, and felt adhesion before it leaves Woodstock.

From Cape coast to Highveld

South African climates ask for thoughtful specification. Along the Cape coast or in Durban's humidity, brass feet resist corrosion, but we recommend regular dusting to avoid felt mildew. Inland, in Joburg or the Karoo itself, dry air and finer dust call for extra attention to the felt back, especially where there's heavy foot traffic. Direct sunlight will fade finishes over time, so placement away from harsh windows is best. For high-traffic spaces like schools or public lobbies, we can fit extra weight in the base for added stability. If your site gets regular wind from an open door or the Cape southeaster, let us know: we can adjust the footings to help the screen stand its ground.
